No official report, but even Spart anburg reports a high of 76 and a low of 69 and most folks slept f pder blankets last night. Remem Jp- Thursday is the last day to o any banking this week. Adams Millis Corp. employees have two weeks vacation reporting July 14th. . . . Golf tournament and picnic at Tryon Country Club Friday. Lake Lanier Tea House expecting big crowds this weekend. Mill Farm invites men to leave their coats at home and advertises fans in every room. . . . Jim Tapley and Bill Woodson won first place with a team at the bridge tournament at Caesar’s Head Monday. A prominent citizen stated the other day that some praise should be given the local officials for the nice way in which they conducted the primary. . . Other praise is coming in about the alertness of the Town of Tryon to give the best service possible with the limited facilities and money available. lYvon is cleaner than in many *-^ears. A thorough study is being made to solve many local problems including traffic, water, streets, sewerage. Miss Lillie Henson and Miss Nancy Saul of Charlotte Memori al Hospital are visiting Miss Hen son’s mother, Mrs. Gus Henson. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Thompson and son, Jack, of Tempe, Ariz. and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Met calf and children of .Charlotte have returned home after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Metcalf. Leo Porter, Carl Pace and Gail Johnson are taking a week's course for young people at Elon College. NASH FUNERAL CHANGES Funeral services for Miss Diana Nash will be held Thursday morn ing at 10:30 at the Congregation al Church on account of the re modeling at the Episcopal Church. Two Holidays This Week The Tryon Bank & Trust Co., Federal Savings & Loan Assn., Auto Dealers, Court House and a number of other firms will be closed Friday and Saturday. All stores will close Friday and also the post office. HOSPITAL NEWS New patients at St. Luke’s Hospital include Rickey Hutcher son. son of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Hutcherson; Jay Hill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh H. Hill, Columbus: A daughter born at 2:15 July 2 to Mr. and Mrs. Mark Atkins; Mrs. Thelma Hines. Discharges include Mrs. W. L. Solesbee and baby son; Robert Constance. Landrum; Mrs. Lloyd Ravan and baby son, Tryon; Rich ard Cunningham, Mill Spring; Mrs. Floyd Evans and baby son. Mrs. Joe L. Wilson has gone to Norfolk, Va. to visit her hus band, who is stationed with the Navy there. G. H. Burns Jr., U. S. Navy, Norfolk, Va., spent the weekend in Tryon with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Burns. His ship is the Block Island. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Ward are spending the week in Waynesville. I B. K. Couper of Washington. D. C. is visiting his mother, Mrs. B. King Couper. John E. McKenter, Miami, Fla. is a guest at Oak Hall.
